6 Things To Do For Getting the Most Out of the Dog Days of Summer

It’s hard to believe it’s mid-August, before summer starts to wind down, time slows down just a bit more in Cayman. The season is hot – hotter than normal, which can be expected – and as the kids are off school, it’s not uncommon to experience ‘island time’. So if you’re new to the island, wondering what there is to do or looking for some ideas on how to beat the heat, here are some ways to spend the last days of Summer in Cayman.

Farmer’s market

Cayman has some wonderful farmer’s markets where local farmers sell their goods to ranging from produce to homemade jellies. An idea to start your week off right is to visit one and pick out fresh ingredients for dinner. While the farmer’s markets are opened every day, ideal days to visit are Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Beach day

The best way to beat the summer is heat is to throw on your swimsuit and head to one of the many public access beaches along Seven Mile Beach. What better way to cool off than to take a dip in some of the most beautiful waters in the world? Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and lots of water, Cayman sun is great for a tan but be cautious to keep hydrated.  

Sunset drinks

Cayman has no shortage of beautiful sunsets. Take your pick of one of the many bars and restaurants that boast stunning sunsets offer daily happy hours. Take it all in, with a cocktail in hand, surrounded by friends and family. Enjoy life’s simple pleasures, and please drink responsibly.

Brunch

Sunday brunch is a staple for Caribbean summer. Gather your crew and head to one of the many brunch spots for delicious all-you-can-eat and bottomless bubbles. It’s best to make brunch reservations in advance to ensure you’re able to get a table. Want to keep the party going after brunch? Join the locals at Royal Palms for an after-brunch drink.

Oasis Aqua Park

Looking for something fun for the whole family, that doubles as a workout? The new Oasis Aqua Park on South Church Street, located next to Eden Rock, is a great way to spend the last days of summer. Fun and enjoyable for all ages, you can climb, swim, laugh and sweat at this entertaining ocean theme park.

Gather 14 of your closest friends and prepare your taste buds for a ride. Enjoy farm-to-table dining from four Market Street Group Camana Bay restaurants. Every Wednesday at 6:30 pm, prepare for a guided dining tour of a few of Camana Bay’s restaurants featuring local ingredients.
