The 5 Best Places for Conch Fritters in Cayman

Arguably a Caymanian staple, conch can be prepared in many ways and may end up on your menu in the form of cracked conch, marinated conch, conch stew or, of course, conch fritters. While these sea mollusks may only be caught and collected at certain times of the year (November 1st – April 30th annually) and from specific areas, there is no shortage of conch in Cayman. This lean, protein-rich food has been a local delicacy for decades – common and delicious.

 

We’ve put together a list of the best conch fritters, in our opinion, on island, in no particular order.

Da Fish Shack

Known for its ode to all things the Caribbean, you can order some of the best conch fritters in Cayman. Served with tasty jerk aioli, and a cold beer, Fish Shack’s fritters make the list for their fluffy and tasty, must-have appetizers.

Rum Point

If you fancy a scenic drive up to the furthers point of the island to enjoy a dip at the world-famous Rum Point, where you can pair your mudslide with some hot conch fritters that are sure to leave you wanting more. Don’t like driving? Hop on a boat and join the locals for a relaxing Sunday cruise.

Sunset House

Named after the gorgeous views on the sunset, Sunset House a local favourite that’s been around for years. Newly renovated, patrons can sit at the bar are grab a table on the deck to watch the sunset. Pull up a stool and order some of the best conch fritters on island. On certain days, you can often see- and hear- residents playing a game of dominos at the bar. They also offer fine dining and seating indoors.

Cracked Conch

Despite the name, it’s no surprise that Cracked Conch made the list. Here you can order a verity of delicious conch meals including conch fritters. Another excellent place to have a drink and watch the sunset. If you’re in the mood for a more laid-back atmosphere, you can sit downstairs at the sister restaurant, Maccabuca, and enjoy your conch fritters by the ocean.

Peppers

Located conveniently on the strip of Seven Mile Beach, Peppers offer local and Caribbean foods with good music and a fun vibe. Order your conch fritters as an appetizer before diving into some jerk chicken. Wash it all down with local beer or a signature cocktail from one of the most popular restaurants in Cayman.
